Purpose
My name is Shh-ow–Yen and I am an artivist filmmaker, investigative writer, societal skeptic, social justice advocate, ordinary radical, and design thinking futurist;
I live for, to, and because of love.
Knowing the transformative impact that love has had on my life, I can't help but strive to make that the reality for any and all who seek it. Seeing the corruption and ill will of this world to be caused by systemic, but truly personal barriers that disallow love to function sustainably, I aim to create works that challenge paradigms and delve bellow cultural normativity in order to leave catalytic questions, rather than simple answers, in the hearts and minds of the individuals who experience my work. Having no greater passion than helping others live more intentional lives, and no greater joy than the artistic depths of creative expression, my dream is to know that I dedicated all that I had to melding and developing those dually essential parts of my life to live beyond it.
By definition progress cannot be made by those who absorb and perpetuate the current structure of society. Only those who venture outside of what has been culturally reinforced can reimagine and actualize a new reality, that, if successful, does not compete with the old structure, but makes it obsolete.
